Our Story

The origin of Taco Tequila's started with the idea from Abel Fernandez, who had inspiration from an old family friend that told him it'd be a great idea to open up a restaurant in downtown Terre Haute. He then came together with his brother Everardo and other business associates to create Taco Tequila's. The sugar skull theme and skulls in general were to show something from the Mexican culture: Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead); Something different from the typical Mexican restaurant. We opened doors in November 2016 and branched out to two more locations ever since.

Inspired by family and culture

From one idea in Terre Haute to a restaurant experience guests remember.

Taco Tequilas was built around more than just great food. The restaurant began with a vision shared by Abel Fernandez, his brother Everardo, and their business partners to create a place that felt rooted in community while still bringing something new to the area.

The Day of the Dead inspired design gives the restaurant its bold personality, helping Taco Tequilas stand out from a more traditional look while still celebrating an important part of Mexican culture. That balance of flavor, atmosphere, and identity is what gives the story behind the restaurant its character.
